Maxine Collins, 77, of Greenfield, died on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002 in Grant Medical Center, Columbus.
She was born on Sept. 21, 1924 in Hillsboro to Ruben S. and Majorie Mae (Tucker) Cowne.
She graduated in 1942 from the Hillsboro High School. She was associated with Highlander Ford for 19 years and was a member of St. Benignus Catholic Church in Greenfield.
Mrs. Collins was a member of the St. Benignus Catholic Church Ladies Auxiliary; past president of the Greenfield Mother's club; avid golfer; former ladies golf champion at Buckeye Hills Country Club and the Snow Hill Country Club; longtime Booster of the Hills and Dales Training Center. Mrs. Collins and her husband, Bill, were honored in 2001 as parents of the year.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruben S. and Majorie Mae Cowne; and an infant sister.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Collins, whom she married on Nov. 21, 1946; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Debbie Collins of Wadsworth; two daughters and son-in-law, Connie and Phil Clyburn of Greenfield and Carol Collins of Greenfield; five grandchildren, Julie Collins and fiancee Tim Keegan of Greenfield, Chris Collins of Los Angeles, Calif., Andy (Joanne) Clyburn of Seattle, Wash., Mark Clyburn of Newark and Katie Clyburn of Greenfield; a great-grandson, James Cole Clyburn of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, John Cowne of Hillsboro; two nieces, Susan Koch and Sandi Collins; two nephews, Gary Cowne and Steve Cowne; and numerous cousins.
