    In Maus' ten years on Eye Street, he had a record of 88-28-2. His teams made the WCAC playoffs in seven of those years, went to the WCAC title game in five and won back to back Championships in 1996 and 1997. In 1994, the Eagles defeated DeMatha for the first time in twenty-five years. The 1996 Championship was Gonzaga's first Catholic League Football Championship in 37 years. Maus' best season was in 1997 when he had a record of 12-1 and defeated DeMatha 14-7 in the WCAC Championship at Byrd Stadium. In 38 years as head coach at Carroll High School and Gonzaga, Maus' 322-74-9 record makes him the 9th winningest high school football coach in the nation. He won sixteen Catholic League Titles, was the Touchdown Club's Coach of the Year in three times and was named the Washington Post's Coach of the Year four times.
