   - Linda Collins, a long-time employee of the Gilpin County Clerk and Recorder's office, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital of Denver of complications following appendicitis. She was 45. She was born on March 28, 1957, and began working with the Clerk and Recorder's office on March 28, 1994. She and her husband Gerald lived in Aspen Springs with their daughter, Molly, a Montessori student at Gilpin Elementary School. A viewing will be held at the Newcomer Family Mortuary located at 7277 West Colfax, Lakewood, on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. The family has requested that only family and close friends attend. County Commissioner Web Sill said, "She was one of the employees who was beyond reproach and who held the Clerk and Recorder's office together during its time of transition." The flag in front of the courthouse was lowered to half-mast in her honor. Gilpin County will hold a memorial service for Collins on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. in the front hall in the Justice Center.
