   Kenneth A. Collins, of Westfield, a Holyoke native, who has chaired most of the important subcommittees for the organization, was honored at the meeting of the group Sunday at The Wherehouse? on Lyman Street.

   Collins, who was parade president in 2004, last year took over chairmanship of the marketing committee and through his actions helped raise a substantial amount of money to help pay for the television coverage of the parade and the music that enhances the parade.
   
   McNiff credited Collins with being "tenacious and unrelenting" in helping to raise funds.

   Collins said he was "deeply honored" by the award and he thanked the more than 25 members who joined in the marketing effort of the committee over the past year.
   
   "What we needed to do was increase the number of people who enthusiastically got involved with fund raising.These people helped in contacting area companies and organizations and because of that we were able to increase our results substantially," Collins said.
   
   Collins, a graduate of the former Sacred Heart High in Holyoke, also graduated from the University of Massachusetts and Western New England College.He is a retired engineering/manufacturing manager for Monsanto/Solutia and is currently a tax specialist and office manager of the Westfield branch of H&R Block.
   
   Among other subcommittees he has chaired are the Colleen Contest, Coronation Ball, music and after-parade party.Also, bylaws, long-range planning, the board of directors and budgeting.

   Collins and his wife, Karen, have three children and seven grandchildren.

   Kenneth Collins began working with EAPs as an external EAP consultant in 1981.In 1985, he joined the staff of the Chevron Corporation EAP and was promoted to manager in 1989.While at Chevron, he developed an audit protocol to review cases handled by the nine-member EAP staff, providing services to a population of 35,000 employees.Following Chevron, he worked for two years as Vice President for Product Development at Value Behavioral Health.This experience provided him with an insider's perspective on EAP vendor operations.
   
   As a consultant, he has conducted single EAP audits of vendors serving Monsanto, Pharmacia, Merck and International Truck & Engine and has performed multiple EAP audits for Bayer and PG&E.He has performed industry specific benchmarking studies for Bayer, Johnson & Johnson and PG&E.In 1999, he conducted his own benchmarking research comparing EAP structure and utilization patterns and has authored articles on EAP benchmarking published by Behavioral Health Management magazine and EAP Digest.He is the author of the chapter on drug testing in The Employee Assistance Handbook.Over the years, he has held a variety of positions in the Employee Assistance Professionals Association, the Employee Assistance Roundtable and the Society for Human Resource Management.
