Mrs. Collins was a graduate of Danbury High School and Danbury State Teachers College. She had taught in the Danbury Public School System for many years and had also taught at local private schools. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and the Ridgewood Country Club.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara T. Morris of San Francisco, Calif. and a son, John Jay Thier of Pittsburgh, Pa. ; a sister, Dorothy S. Melvin of Lantana, Fla. ; a brother, Robert Stirling of Oswego, Fla. ; a stepson, Joseph F. Collins Jr. of Danbury ; three stepdaughters, Marietta Janutolo of Bethel, Laura Collins of Branford and Nancy Re of Sioux City, Iowa ; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by two brothers, James Stirling and William Stirling.
Funeral Services will be held at St. James Episcopal Church at a time to be announced. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.
