Students had the opportunity to travel to Ethiopia, Indonesia, Trinidad, Northern Ireland, Ecuador and India, said Jenny Collins, director of Lighthouse and assistant professor at Taylor University.
"We have huge interest in things international among our student body, which I feel is typical of the current generation of college students," Collins said. "Being a Christian institution, many of them desire to serve other people while learning about their culture, so Lighthouse provides a great outlet for combining that."
Collins said Taylor has been sending students abroad during "J-Term" for 36 years, and noted Lighthouse trips are an opportunity for students to participate in evangelical missions work and receive class credit.
"They took a (one credit hour) class in the fall and then three more credits during January," she said. -
