   Jacquelyn Collins , new principal of Gateway Christian School , goes over some paperwork in preparation for the beginning of school on September 1.
   
   Gateway Christian School's new principal and administrator this school year is Jacquelyn Collins. She is also the director of the Joyful Noise pre-school. Actually she's not so new. She was previously a teacher - principal at the school for 10 years beginning in 1986. Although she continued to live in Oakhurst , she left for five years to teach in a Christian school in Clovis , but now she's back. Mrs. Collins grew up in Escondido and graduated from Escondido High School in 1965. She later married.
   
   With her husband in the military , the couple moved around a lot. Later , when their four children were in school , she started teaching in Christian schools after the family moved to Ventura. When she moved to the mountains in 1985 , she went back to school and taught at the same time. She graduated with a degree in business administration from Fresno Pacific in 1991 and received her teaching credential from Patton College in Oakland in 1992. It took me a long time to do it , but I did it , she says. She says she is a life-long learner. She has 22 years experience in teaching at Christian schools and has taught pre-school. Her husband , retired from the Navy , is now a delivery truck driver and a volunteer firefighter with the Cedar Valley Fire Department. The enrollment of the Gateway Christian School is 90 , and she would like to see the kindergarten-through-eighth-grade school reach 100 in student population this school year and see the same enrollment in the preschool. Eventually she would like to see it grow to 150 or 200 as well as explore the possibility of expanding to a high school. She has other goals. I would like to develop our technology program and see it come into the current age , she says. She would also like to see the physical education program develop so they can compete with other Mountain Area schools and parochial schools in Fresno. Mrs. Collins was honored in 1998 in the alumni Walk of Honor at Patton College for her accomplishments in the field of education. She also facilitates classes and puts together groups to help students complete their teaching credentials at the college. She is the district representative for the Association of Christian Schools International , for which she was elected by fellow administrators in the region to represent them on the state level.
