Former GM Executive Director of Corporate Compliance Adds Significant Depth to Corporate Compliance Team
Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced the addition of David A. Collins to its Corporate Finance practice group and Dykema's Corporate Governance Task Force.Collins, who previously served as the Executive Director of Corporate Compliance for General Motors, will be resident in the firm's Detroit office.

While at GM, Dave organized and managed the company's corporate compliance and ethics program and was responsible for assuring that it met the standards of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.This included standardizing the processes used by business teams that oversee specific compliance duties, drafting and disseminating the employee code of conduct, managing conflict of interest disclosure by senior executives, conducting risk assessments, and overseeing risk mitigation planning.He also represented GM in cross-industry organizations of corporate compliance and ethics officers.
In his new role at Dykema, Collins will lead and grow the firm's corporate compliance team and serve as a resource to the firm's existing clients.He will work with clients to strengthen their compliance programs and help integrate these programs into their overall business strategy and operations.

Over the course of his career, Collins served GM in several capacities, including General Counsel of Saturn Corporation and Corporate Secretary of GM.Collins now serves as a Director of the American Bar Foundation and co-chair of its Finance and Audit Committee.He is also a member of the Administration Committee overseeing the ABA's employee pension plan, as well as a member of the board of directors for the American Bar Museum.
He received a J.D. from Washington University and a B.A. from Amherst College.He also served in the Peace Corps and received an M.A. in History from Wayne State University.
