Craig CollinsCraig oversees the entire music ministry of the church, and directs the Chancel Choir, Mt. Zion Ringers, RinGS, and Music Makers.Immediately prior to coming to Cornelius, Craig studied voice; sang professionally; worked in churches as a assistant director, professional chorister, section leader and soloist in a number of different churches and denominations in New York City; and worked in a number of different industries, including Wall Street his last 9 years in New York.Previously, Craig had taught choral and general music in grades 6-12 in the Whiteville City School System; served as interim Director of Music at First Baptist Church in Whiteville, NC; directed the community choral group in High Point, NC; served as a Director of Music at Jamestown United Methodist Church in Jamestown, NC; served as Director of Music at West Shore United Methodist Church in Richardson, TX; and served as Director of Music at First United Methodist Church in Grapevine, TX.
Locally, Craig is the VP of the WNC Conference Chapter of the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Worship Arts; is very active in the Charlotte Chapter of Choristers Guild; is a member of the American Guild of Organists; and is the Assistant Director of and soloist with the Lake Singers.
He received his Bachelor of Arts from Pfeiffer University with a double major in Church Music and Music Education and a minor in Christian Education.He received his Master of Sacred Music Degree from Southern Methodist University and Perkins School of Theology.He has also done post-graduate study at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.After obtaining his Masters degree, Craig studied voice in Dallas, Austin, and New York City for 18 years.
