   Collins and Oswald, born Beecher Ray Kirby, were the heart of the Smoky Mountain Boys, backing Acuff for more than 25 years and then continuing to tour together following Acuff's 1992 death.The pair continued to play the Opry virtually every weekend until Oswald's death in 2002.
   
   Collins is an accomplished fiddle and mandolin player and worked many years with Oswald presenting shows at the Opryland theme park.He currently plays guitar for the Grand Ole Opry Square Dance Band.
