Awards Committee Chair - Carol Collins
Carol Collins, the science consultant for the Hamilton County Educational Service Center in Cincinnati, has spent the last 36 years as a science teacher and educator. She has taught at many levels, including 7th - 12th grade, university, and in-service education. For 26 years she taught primarily high school science in Florida before moving to Ohio 9 years ago.
Her education includes an AB in Sociology, a MA in Science Teaching, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction.
During her career in science education, she has received 9 state and national teaching awards, including the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.
Carol has conducted more than 150 presentations and workshops for 4000+ educators. She currently serves as the Award Liaison for SECO, as the chair of the Advisory Board for The Science Teacher, the secondary journal of NSTA, as the national membership chair for the Association of Presidential Awardees in Science Teaching, and as the director of the Cincinnati GEMS (Great Explorations in Math and Science) site.
