LAWRENCE -- Carmen K. Collins, 49, Lawrence, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2002, at a Lawrence hospital.

Ms. Collins worked for The University of Missouri at Columbia and later was a research aide, bookkeeper and grant writer for The University of Kansas until she became ill.

She was born Jan. 18, 1953, in Lawrence, the daughter of Henry Benjamin and Carolee Harker Easdale Collins.She was raised in Lawrence and Baldwin City and graduated from Baldwin City High School in 1971.She moved to Lawrence from Columbia in 1989.
