Today, the Department for Transport announced the appointment of Professor Brian Collins of Cranfield University as its new Chief Scientific Adviser (CSA).Professor Collins will succeed Professor Frank Kelly from 2 October and will work on a part-time basis.

As the new CSA, Professor Collins will oversee a wide-range of research programmes undertaken by the Department's directorate and agencies, and take part in a variety of cross-departmental scientific groups under the auspices of the Chief Scientific Adviser to the Government.
