   BRIAN COLLINS SELECTED IN NBDL DRAFT
   
   NASHVILLE, TENN. - - Former Belmont Bruin point guard Brian Collins was chosen by the Bakersfield Jam in the sixth round of Thursday night's NBA Developmental League Draft.
   
   Collins, who last season as a senior led Belmont to the program's first-ever trip to the NCAA Tournament, had been working out for professional teams since graduating this past May.
   
   "I had been talking to four or five teams, but Bakersfield was not one of them so I was very surprised," Collins said after the draft. "Bakersfield's new Head Coach is Jim Harrick, and we played his Georgia team when I was a freshman and that may have helped me."
   
   A Nashville native and prep star at nearby Whites Creek High School, Collins finished his career as Belmont's all-time NCAA leader in assists (452) and steals (178), and ranks fifth in points (1,199).
   
   "It's like a dream come true and everything is falling into place," Collins added.
