    Mr. Collins was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of. OCRI on May 7th 1994. His previous position with OCRI was Vice President , Communications & Marketing. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for OCRI , the Canadian Photonics Consortium , and the National Capital Institute of Telecommunications.

    As the leader of one of the Region's economic accelerators , Mr. Collins is a recognized technology champion.. He has promoted the region's technology strengths and quality of life in the United States , Mexico , United Kingdom , Sweden and Hong Kong. OCRI has helped make Ottawa a Global Player in technology. He is currently scheduled for presentations in Hong Kong , China and Malaysia.

    In June 2000 Mr. Collins received a Fellowship Award from the Society of Canadian Office Automation Professionals ( SCOAP ) in recognition of his efforts related to the use , management and impact of information and technology in Canada. In the fall of 2000 , Mr. and Mrs. Collins received a Quality of Life award from St. Joe's Women's Centre honouring the couple's lifelong commitment to those less fortunate.

    Prior to taking over the helm at OCRI , Mr. Collins held the position of Director of Communications for the Telecommunications Research Institute of Ontario ( TRIO ) in addition to performing in that capacity for OCRI. Before joining OCRI , Mr. Collins taught Advertising , Public Relations & Marketing at Algonquin College ( Professor , Program Co-coordinator ) in Ottawa , and Canadore College in North Bay. He was employed for 16 years in the newspaper advertising business , four years of which was in advertising management. He also served on the Peterborough Separate School Board from 1963 to 1968 and was Chairman for 1967-68.

    Mr. Collins received a Bachelor of Arts from Laurentian University , Sudbury , Ontario.
