This month we will tell you a little about B.T. Collins. B. T. Collins was born Brien Thomas Collins in 1940 and died March 19, 1993. Those who have lived in California for awhile will remember B.T. as a member of the State Assembly from Sacramento. But before that, beginning in 1965, he served in Vietnam first as an artillery forward observer with an infantry company of the 1st Air Calvary Division. It was on his second tour in 1967 with the 5th Special Forces that he lost an arm and a leg in a firefight in the Mekong Delta. He survived many surgeries and month of rehab and medically retired as a Captain in 1968. B.T. didn't let any of that stop him. He went on to earn a BS degree and finally a law degree in 1973. He served in may areas of public service before becoming a member of the California State Assembly.
