Andrea Collins, of the Save Salt Spring Society, has purchased a lot in the Mount Maxwell watershed and has an option to purchase three other lots.
"I love the area and I have come to love every tree and every bird, it becomes a part of who you are, it's a part of myself and we need to save it and let the trees grow back," said Collins.
Her option to purchase the other lots runs out in March and she is hoping conservation buyers will come forward to protect logging on the lots. Prices on the lots vary from $300,000 to $400,000 per lot.
"I'm sure Rob Macdonald is open to negotiations; they're offering a discount right now," said Collins.
