   Susan Collings is Counsel in the firm's Personal and Fiduciary Law Department.
   
   Estate Planning. Susan has extensive experience not only in the preparation of wills , trusts , and other estate planning documents , but also in working with clients to achieve their personal and financial goals in the context of sophisticated federal estate , gift and generation-skipping transfer tax planning. She has assisted clients in implementing complex estate plans through use of such techniques as irrevocable insurance trusts , split interest charitable trusts , grantor retained annuity trusts and qualified personal residence trusts.
   
   Retirement Benefits Planning. Susan has substantial experience in planning for retirement benefits. She has extensive knowledge of the complex rules governing income and estate taxation of retirement benefits and works closely with clients to maximize their retirement benefits through proper beneficiary designations.
   
   Trusts and Estate Administration. Susan advises individual and corporate fiduciaries with respect to probate matters , as well as the ongoing administration of trusts and estates. She counsels fiduciaries extensively on the interpretation of wills and trusts , as well as post-mortem tax planning and income-tax planning. Susan co-authored an article on use of disclaimers that appeared in Estate Planning magazine and has worked extensively with clients in using this post-mortem planning tool.
   
   Education and Professional Activities. Susan graduated from The University of Pennsylvania , Wharton School , in 1978 and from Temple University School of Law in 1986. While in law school , Susan served as Pennsylvania Project Editor of the Temple University Law Review. Susan is a member of the American , Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations. She serves on the Executive Committee of the Probate and Trust Law Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association and is chairman of its Publication Committee.
