   In April 2001, the buzz around town was the new dental office belonging to Dr. Stephen Collings.

   IMPRESSING THE PATIENTS "Digital radiography works well for taking better care of patients, and at the same time, I think, educates patients about the care we provide for them," Dr. Collings said. "And patients are intrigued by intraoral camera before-and-after shots."
   
   This digital technology also eliminates the darkroom - space now used for ordering supplies. The doctor's priority on the patient is evidenced in the area of sterilization as well. "With the Triangle Steri-Center, which he shows patients, Dr. Collings demonstrates his commitment to cleanliness and sterilization," LeBlanc said.

"In the old office," he explained, "I practiced quality dentistry, but the building didn't match this. Now the building and the equipment complement the way I feel dentistry should be practiced."
   
   Dr. Collings has two unbooked operatories for emergencies, which help keep the office on schedule and, he's found, lower stress. "The advanced equipment and new software reduce stress because everything works exactly as it should," the doctor said. "I had heard from others that my stress level would be reduced with a new office, but I didn't realize to this extent." This smooth transition was aided by the fact that Dr. Collings began meeting his pre-established productivity goals immediately upon opening his new office.
   
   With Dr. Collings move came total integration of EagleSoft ChairSide practice management software. "I had used other software for 13 years, but felt its support was not adequate for the features I wanted with this new office," he said.
