   Pastor Richard W. Collin is a native of Michigan, having been born and raised in suburban Detroit. His early years of schooling were in Ferndale and he later graduated from Wayne State University also in Detroit. After graduation, he enrolled at Concordia Theological Seminary at that time located in Springfield, Illinois. His studies were completed in 1971 when he was ordained into the ministry of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
   
   The 30 + year ministry of Pastor Collin has moved him across the country where he has served in a variety of ministry situations from larger city congregations to actively growing missions. His first parish involved him with three congregations in Northern Minnesota as he worked to develop a new concept for "Team Ministry." He has also served ministries in Michigan, California and Arizona before moving to Idaho. For nine years in Arizona he worked with establishing two mission congregations and for four of those years he served as a worker-priest. It was during those worker-priest years, that he was employed in real estate and property management while developing a congregational ministry on the side. Pastor Collin has been senior pastor at St. John since 1993.
   
   In 1968 Pastor Collin was married to Beth Essig.

   Pastor Collin focuses his ministry on challenging the people of God to discover the role they play in bringing the Good News of forgiveness and salvation through Christ alone to others in the parish and community.
