   Chicago, December 21, 2004 - In a move to solidify a team that encompasses philanthropy, resource development and corporate relations, Bruce Berglund CFRE, National Director of Philanthropy and Resource Development for YMCA of the USA, announced the addition of Tom Colligan, Monique Hanson and Kevin Shermach to the fold.

   Tom Colligan, Director of Development - National Center Most recently a fundraising consultant with Jeffrey Byrne & Associates, Colligan previously served as senior vice president for organizational development at the national office of the Arthritis Foundation in Atlanta. But building upon twenty-five years of YMCA leadership at Torrington's Northwestern Connecticut YMCA (CEO), Rome (NY) Family YMCA (CEO) and the Regional Family YMCA in Framingham, MA (senior program director), Colligan's life experience within the YMCA is what best prepared him for a move to fundraising at YMCA of the USA. "A deep understanding of how the mission of the YMCA is met every day at local associations is the bedrock of my dedication to develop world class resources for our worldwide movement," he said.
   
   Colligan's primary responsibilities at YMCA of the USA will be the planning and launching of a national capital campaign to build a new worldwide headquarters for the national resource office of the largest not-for-profit in the US. A native of Hamilton, Ohio, Colligan earned his BA in history & political science at Vermont's Goddard College and his M.Ed. in human service administration/community development from Springfield (MA) College. He plans to relocate to the Chicago area from Torrington, Conn., with his wife Lindsley. He has two daughters, Hali, and Marlee.

   Tom Colligan of Jeffrey Byrnes and Associates provided the keynote. Colligan was recently hired by the Facility Founders' Board to conduct their Capital Campaign Feasibility Study. Before joining Jeffrey Byrne and Associates, a campaign management consulting firm based in Kansas City, Colligan spent 25 years in the YMCA movement, the final 21 as an Executive Director.

   As the newest YMCA executive to join Jeffrey Byrne & Associates, Inc. Thomas M Colligan brings twenty five-years of experience and success. He has led seven successful capital campaigns as the CEO of the Northwestern Connecticut YMCA and Rome Family Y (NY). During the 1980s and 1990s he raised millions for purposes ranging from establishing a new YMCA branch to debt retirement. In June 2003 Tom joined the newly merged Jeffrey Byrne & Associates, Inc. and Campaign Consultants of America (CCA) as Vice President and will staff the company office in Hartford, Connecticut.
   
   Holding a Masters Degree in Community Leadership and Development from Springfield College, Tom has served YMCAs in Massachusetts, New York, and Connecticut. As a CEO he led the development of a new YMCA, mergers, legendary collaborations, affordable housing development projects, and built regional social service divisions.
   
   Prior to joining Jeffrey Byrne & Associates, Inc. /CCA Tom served as Senior Vice President of Organizational Development for the Arthritis Foundation and worked as a consultant to non-profit and public organizations. He has provided results oriented consultations in organizational development, board development, strategic planning, executive coaching, and mergers.
   
   Actively involved in his local community as a volunteer, Tom was a founding member of the Board of Directors for the first charter school opened in the state of Connecticut, served as a member of the Northwest Connecticut Untied Way Merger Committee and Vice President of the Torrington Connecticut Main Street Action Team. His leadership with the community helped to establish a culture of capital fundraising and giving throughout Northwest Connecticut. He retains his APD membership, received the APD Administrative Excellence Award in Capital Campaign Management and held certification as CFRE from the Association of Fundraising Professionals for a decade.
