    United Way of San Diego County hires Hannah Cohen as a consultant to oversee the development of a county-wide plan to end chronic homelessness within San Diego County's borders.

    In this role, Escondido resident Cohen will speak at community meetings, organize committees, meet with community leaders, solicit volunteers and incorporate each of the six committees' planning components into the Plan to End Chronic Homelessness in the San Diego Region.

    "Hannah has addressed homeless issues in San Diego for nearly 20 years, working with agencies to develop prevention and service strategies for homeless and at risk populations, including seniors, families, veterans and chronically homeless people," said Fred Baranowski, president and CEO, United Way of San Diego County.

    "With Hannah's help, United Way will convene the many stakeholders involved in seeing the plan through its implementation process."

    Over the course of the next year, Hannah will provide assistance to the plan's leadership council - consisting of the United Way of San Diego County, County of San Diego, City of San Diego, community leaders and local volunteers.

    In addition to consulting for numerous non-profit housing/service providers, homeless agencies, owning a government and public affairs business, and developing and writing grants, Cohen has been a part of the Regional Task Force on Homelessness, the SANDAG Regional Housing Task Force, Envisions SD Livable Places Task Force, San Diego Housing Federation Policy Committee, Regional Continuum of Care and more.Additionally, she is very active in the National Alliance to End Homelessness and is a State Lobby Captain for the organization.

    Hannah Cohen has her own consultancy business specializing in homeless and affordable housing issues. She is currently the Housing and Homeless Policy Specialist for The Center for Aging Resources, Heritage Clinic headquartered in Pasadena, with offices in San Diego, Los Angeles, Inglewood and Palmdale. She was the consultant to United Way SD contracted to oversee the development, writing and approval process for the Plan to End Chronic Homelessness in the San Diego. She has provided consultant services throughout San Diego County and has an established reputation for capacity building skills and an emphasis on obtainable outcomes and goals.

    Ms. Cohen provides leadership on a variety of committees to address homeless including the Regional Taskforce on Homelessness, the Mental Health Services Housing Council, SD Regional Continuum of Care and the SD Mental Health Coalition. She also participates on the SD Housing Federation Policy and Education Committees. She chairs HCA Homeless Policy Working Group and the Fundraising Committee. She established CA Keys, a state-wide collaborative of CA municipalities, that share information on chronic homeless plan development and advocates for funding for chronic plans implementation. Ms. Cohen has 25 years of experience in housing development issues.
