    If using an electric heater, make sure it's connected to a safe and secure socket with proper amperage and wiring, Saratoga Springs Fire Chief Robert Cogan said.

    Robert Cogan, chief of the Saratoga Springs Fire Department, reported the number of firefighters did not change all that much, though the department is at full staff.

    "We always have a large number of people interested in the job," Chief Cogan said.

    Cogan said there are currently 60 or 70 people on a list for positions at the Saratoga Springs Fire Department.Applicants must take the Civil Service exam, and they must be a registered Emergency Medical Technician, Cogan said.
