    A Dec. 11 letter to the Texas Workforce Commission from Ed Coder, senior director of human resources for CompUSA, indicated the 638 layoffs are permanent and that the company's corporate office will close permanently between March 1 and March 14.

    Officials representing CompUSA could not immediately be reached for comment Thursday.
