...
Anthony Coden, comes to Blackwater from Bordeaux, France, by way of Kerrville Texas, his home for the past 10 years.A 550 mile trek across Spain (the "El Camino") in 2002, taught him the value of nature's place in personal growth. His eclectic history as a professional chef, high-end bicycle mechanic, youth advocate at a drug and alcohol treatment center, house-parent, cook and soccer coach at a residential-ranch treatment center for boys, combined with a passion for the outdoors brings a variety of experiences to B.O.E.as a Field Instructor.
After obtaining certification as a Wilderness First Responder (W.F.R.) in 2005, Anthony began his career with B.O.E..Anthony has led eleven three-week long therapeutic expeditions for Blackwater as of January 2007.He values interacting with students and experiencing the therapeutic process with the whole group.Anthony enjoys teaching wilderness hard skills and introducing different perspectives on living well, through the medium of Nature as well as B.O.E.'s customized therapeutic modalities.Of greatest value to Anthony is that students, field instructor and field therapist all begin and end each 21-day journey, together.
In his spare time, Anthony enjoys the company of his wife, 2 cats and a dog, back in Texas. There, he gets back to his cooking (bread making especially), swimming, power-hiking with his border-collie, Grace, teaching cooking classes for community adult education, and an occasional day working at the local bicycle shop.He and his wife, Glenda, enjoy cooking for friends with a focus on organic and natural foods. They like hiking the Texas Hill Country, working on their home, books, movies and travel.
