All levels of instruction at Shamrock Acres Training Center are provided by Linda Coates.Having the same instructor for all levels of training provides continuity in the program, which uses gentle, motivational methods to teach the dogs.Teaching the entire family to work with and understand the dog is an important part of every dog's training.Family participation is encouraged during the Beginner's Class.
Linda has been training dogs since the late 1960's.She enrolled in her first dog obedience class thru the 4-H program with a Wirehair Fox Terrier, and soon thereafter fell in love with the sport of obedience and the wonderful relationship that developed with her dog.In the late 1970's she acquired her first Airedale Terrier, Duffi, a true test of patience and creativity to train.In 1980 she began instructing obedience classes and became Director of Training for the Greater Louisville Training Club.She spent the next 10 years teaching and continuing to educate herself on the many training methods that were available.For 8 years she taught classes with the Jefferson County Adult Education Program using positive motivational methods which she has found to be quite effective in teaching new behaviors.Linda has been instructing at Shamrock since 1996.
Linda has competed in obedience trials for almost 30 years with a number of different dogs.She has put titles on Smooth Fox Terriers, Labrador Retrievers , Pugs and numerous Airedales.One of her Airedales, Ramsey, not only became a Utility dog but was ranked #1 Airedale in the country 6 times.Butler was her first Airedale Champion, her first agility dog and her 3rd Airedale to receive a Utility title.Butler was ranked #1 Airedale 3 times, and was the first Champion Airedale to receive a UDX title.He went High in Trial and High Combined at the National Specialty at the age of 10!

Linda is also working on putting a CDX title on Polly, Otis' little sister and is getting ready to show her in agility as well.Caper is Linda's 5 year old Airedale who will be showing in agility and utility this year.
Linda is a Lifetime member of the Greater Louisville Training Club, a member of the Louisville Kennel Club, and Southern Indiana Kennel Club.She is on the Board of Directors and is Obedience Chairman for the Airedale Terrier Club of America and also serves on the Board for the Kentuckiana Pug Dog Club.
