Two psychics are brought in to investigate the "hot" areas of the hotel and neighboring bakery.The investigators are targeting four areas: Rooms 207 and 208, a stairway landing and Sweetie Pies Bakery.The investigators purposely didn't reveal the identity of the search location to the psychics prior to Sunday to ensure they came in "cold.""The problem is it's a documented place," Cline said.

5:30-7 p.m. Stairway, Rooms 207 and 208

Perhaps the most startling finding, Cline says, was new energy found on the hotel's staircase landing."Both psychics picked one spot at the landing of the staircase ... as an area of special interest," Cline says.They felt a "place memory" there, where the environment holds a story, he said.

Michael has investigated both private and public places, one of his favorite being the USS Hornet. He participated in the Dead Famous Live television program (broadcast in the UK). He is currently enrolled in a Certificate Program in Parapsychological Studies under the direction of Loyd Auerbach. Michael maintains membership in the Society for Psychical Research.

t took a little while, but we are excited to announce that Michael Cline will be taking over BAPI.

A native of California, Michael's interest in the study of survival of conscience after death and psychokinesis started in 2005. Michael has investigated both private and public places, one of his favorite being the USS Hornet. He participated in the Dead Famous Live television program (broadcast in the UK). He is currently enrolled in a Certificate Program in Parapsychological Studies under the direction of Loyd Auerbach. Michael has been an active BAPI member and maintains membership in the Society for Psychical Research.

We believe Michael has the skills and dedication needed to move BAPI forward into new and exciting directions while still maintaining BAPI's commitment to rigorous research and analysis of data.

Michael Cline wondered about such experiences as he watched television shows about haunted hotels and houses.Then, three years ago, the computer engineer from Hayward found out about Bay Area Paranormal Investigations, which had started in 1999.

"Something in me clicked," says Cline, now director of BAPI.

"To this day," Cline says, "it's the one event I have to chalk up to the unknown."

In 80 to 90 percent of their cases, the six investigators at BAPI attribute reported hauntings and sightings to "natural explanations," Cline says.

"We tend to be a skeptical bunch," he adds.

Cline was surprised by how quickly his group's mailing list has grown.He credits that to the paranormal's growing popularity, with television shows, such as "Medium" and "Ghost Whisperer" and movies such as "Sixth Sense" and "The Others."

"It has really snowballed," he says, "to the point that it's not just a passing interest for some people."
