    The German soprano, Juliane Claus, studied music from 1972 at Hochschule für Musik "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig with Prof. Gerda Schriever and Bernd.

    Juliane Claus' first engagement was at Theater Nordhausen, of DDR-Praxis.After three years there arrived in 1980 her first apprance on a central stage, as Nero in Händel's Agrippina at Landestheater Halle.Future engagements followed anf from 1981 she appeared in many major opera roles, such as Gretel, Rosina, Despina, Blonde, Ännchen, Zerbinetta, and Queen of the Night etc.She also performed important Händel roles, including Regie under the direction of Peter Konwitschny.In 1986 she won the Händel prize.In subsequent years she appeared in many Händel productions, including in Poland, Austria, with the "Prager Frühling" and the "Karlsruher Händeltagen".

    From the beginning of her career Juliane Claus has also had frequent engagements as concert soprano singer, with important ensembles, such as Leipzig's Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, the Thomanerchor Leipzig, the Dresdner Kreuzchor, and the Berliner Domkantorei.She has particulary excelled in works like the solo soprano cantatas of J.S. Bach, Exsultate, jubilate by Mozart, and Kleinen geistlichen Konzerten by Schütz.From 1989 she has worked as free-lance with guest appearances at the Dresdner Semperoper.In 1991she was guest soloist with the Salzburger Bachchor.She has also appeared in Great Britain, Poland, Hungary, France, Italy; Austria and Israel.

    From 1989 Juliane Claus began to work as singing teacher with private pupils.In 1993 she started to training activity on free-lance basis at the Institut für Musikpädagogik der Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg.Later she became a regular teacher there.In 1998 she was Dozentin in the Bach-Akademie in Cluj (Romania)
