Former popular Darlo centre half Matt Clarke will still be playing for Bradford City at Valley Parade next season as he has signed a 1 year contract extension with the Bantams. Clarke has a wealth of lower league experience and he can be relied upon to do a steady job at the back in League 2. I would like to see Clarke back with Quakers in the near future as he is a commanding centre half who always gives whole hearted performances.

A man-mountain at the heart of the defence, Clarke is back from a lengthy injury and ready to lead the Bantams back up from whence they came

A force to be reckoned with, Clarke originally began his career as a striker with Halifax Town but a man with his raw power and imposing presence was quickly transformed into a central defender, and made over 70 league appearances for the Shaymen.

He was an even bigger hit at Darlington, where he went on to captain the side and in four seasons was handed over 150 starts, scoring 13 goals.

However, his Bradford tenure has so far been frustrating, with a red card on his debut before a medial ligament injury in February 2008 ended his season prematurely after he had been enjoying a prolonged run in the side.

He began his career at Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1998, before joining Halifax Town the following year.
