Dot-com clients are about 40 % of our new businesses across the region since the beginning of this year , says Alison Clarke , Asia-Pacific chief executive of public-relations agency Shandwick International.The number of new dot-com and technology clients for Shandwick -- as well as many other agencies -- in Asia has grown tenfold in the past two years , she adds.
According to a recent survey by Asian PR News , an industry publication , 81 % of PR agencies in Asia now have dot-com clients.Of the 81 % , 13 % get more than half of their business from Internet companies.

Unlike many traditional companies that already have an established brand name , dot-com companies need to build a name and also appeal to a host of people , including investors , businesses and consumers , says Ms. Clarke of Shandwick.With the number of Internet companies out there , the real public-relations challenge is to make a company different in a crowded marketplace , she says.
We have to find creative ways to tell the story , otherwise journalists will find it very dull , she says.They all suffer from huge dot-com fatigue..
