   Tony Clark is well known to the business community through his role as managing partner of the New South Wales practice of the accounting firm KPMG from 1992-1998 and, more recently, as a director of Telstra Corporation Limited, Amalgamated Holdings Limited Group, Ramsay Health Care Limited.
   
   He is also Chairman of the Maritime Industry Finance Company Limited.
   
   Born in Brisbane and educated at St Ignatius' College, Riverview, Tony's professional career began in 1958 when he joined Smith Johnson & Co, a predecessor firm of KPMG which is Australia's largest professional services firm. After qualifying as a chartered accountant he worked overseas in the London and New York offices of KPMG for 5 years. He was a partner of the firm, specialising in audit and advisory, from 1971-1998 and has been a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia since 1974 and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors since 1990. In 1995 he was awarded the Order of Australia, Member of the General Division, for services to Business, Commerce and the Community.
   
   As well as his professional responsibilities, Tony was instrumental in the founding of the Skin and Cancer Foundation, serving as a director from 1976 to 1989, and assisted in the formation of the inaugural Board of the Sacred Heart Hospice in Darlinghurst, serving as a director for 10 years. He was a director of the Riverview College Foundation for 10 years and a member of the Executive committee of the Australia Day Council NSW Division from 1990-1994.
