BLACS invites Guildford-based artist and blacksmith, Terrence Clark as guest speaker
BLACS has invited Guildford-based artist and blacksmith, Terrence Clark as guest speaker on Thursday 1st March at Liphook Village Hall, Headley Road, Liphook. Terrence, recognised as one of Europe's leading smiths will be talking about his experiences as an "art-smith" (he was the first artsmith to have a gate accepted in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition under sculpture).
Terrence is the former editor of "British Blacksmith" magazine and its redesigned and renamed successor, "Artist Blacksmith". Twenty five years ago, he set up his own workshop in Guildford to create original functional art as an "artsmith" and in the course of his career, has chaired the International Blacksmithing Conference and won several competitions & prizes. Terrence's demonstrations include the Victoria & Albert Museum's, "Towards a New Iron Age" and he has shown work in the USA and more recently at Sotheby's.
A keen conservationist, Terrence enjoys restoring antique metal work and works as closely as possible in the style of the original smiths. Working with his team, he creates everything from elaborate gates, church furniture, spiral staircases, to delicate pieces of jewellery.
