Ginger Tivey, an athlete care specialist for Adidas, has been employed with the company for eight years and is involved with ensuring that athletes are in the right footwear to suit their game and needs, according to Terrell Clark, a spokesperson for Adidas.

"It's Ginger's position and priority to make sure athletes are comfortable and capable in their footwear," Clark said.

Clark said Adidas was doing everything it could to make sure Nichols would feel comfortable with its product.

"Our main goal in this situation is to look for a way that we can handle this and to look for a way to find a positive to help the university and the athlete himself," Clark said.

Clark said Adidas was still gathering information about Nichols' situation, including the injury and why he feared wearing the Adidas brand. When asked if Adidas would be willing to make a compromise to its contract with ASU and allow Nichols out of it, Clark didn't rule out the possibility.

However, Clark said the decision on Nichols' future with the Indians ultimately falls in the hands of Nichols and the school.

"What it boils down to is that the situation is between Jerry and Arkansas State University," Clark said.

Clark also said the situation was absolutely no threat "under any circumstance" to Arkansas State losing its apparel contract with Adidas.
