Ten years resident in Japan, Ms Clark had for a long time tolerated the enmity from some journalists and foreign residents in Tokyo emanating from unconfirmed rumors started in the early 1990s.The rumors, although untrue, were believed by certain sectors of the community and the subsequent confusion made the matter difficult to rectify without causing further harm.
