   It's hard to believe that it's been nearly a year since Area 450 team member Steve Clark spent 28 hours closely monitoring his Sharp DV740X, the Australian DVE611 clone, to establish why the unit was skipping playback.
   
   He took his player down to David Booty, newly relocated in Melbourne, to see if our Design Editor could fashion a drive swap, as Bootster had a stack of spare Hitachi DVD-ROM drives.
   
   It's great to report that, after much persistence and head-scratching from the pair of them, we have another very valuable drive swap article to add to our growing collection of re-fits.
   
   Steve is now the very proud owner of a non-skipping Sharp DV740X and, as the picture shows, is extremely happy.
