Ruth B. Clark, 82, of West Gray Road, died July 4 at a Portland hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Gray, she was a daughter of Clifford and Myra Frank Barton. She attended local schools, graduating from Pennell Institute as valedictorian of her class in 1935. She received a degree in home economics from the University of Maine in 1939.
She taught home economics in Machias, where she met her husband, Robert Clark. They were married in 1942. From 1942 to 1946 she taught at Windham High School. She also substituted in schools in Gray and Windham for many years.
Mrs. Clark was an accomplished pianist and organist. Her other interests include sewing, quilting, reading and her cats. She was a contributor to the publication, Images of America: Gray, ME.
She was a member of the Gray Cooperative Extension Group, serving as chairperson for several years, and was also a member and vice president of the Advisory Council of the Cumberland County Extension.
She was a special friend and neighbor of the family of Kevin and Cindy Trinward.
