   Ron Clark with the Knox County Highway Department, said he was not aware of any problems this morning. But because of lightning, he said he wouldn't be surprised to see a tree down somewhere in the county.

   But despite all that extra work both Sam Sarvis, superintendent of the Vincennes Street Department, and Ron Clark, superintendent of the Knox County Highway Department, say their budgets are in good shape and they will have the money needed when it comes time to repair all the damage winter conditions caused to roads.

   "It is very unlikely that the cost of things is going to impact us," Clark said. "Last winter, we used a little more sand and salt than the year before, but our winters always end up being pretty average."
   
   He explained that the county does not pay overtime to the road employees and that extra work hours are credited and used by employees as additional days off.
   
   With the unpredictability of the weather, it would be hard to budget for overtime.
   
   The forecast calls for a chance of snow Thursday morning and again Friday, but with no significant accumulation, which certainly warms Clark's heart because it means his crews will get some rest.
   
   But Clark admits to being worried that the worst isn't over for Knox County and that another round of wintry conditions is lurking out there, waiting to hit.
   
   If that happens, and a lot of additional supplies need to be purchased, then the funds would have to come out of money dedicated for projects planned for later in the year.
   
   "If we have to go and buy more sand and salt, the cost will have to come out of their funds for the spring and summer," he said.
