Although many of the comments dealt with problems around residents' homes, Joachim and Ron Clark, co-chairman of Polk Vision, urged residents to think more broadly and to become more involved.
...
Clark said the Polk Vision process offers citizens a chance to control the county's destiny.
"It's what we think Polk County should be in 20 years," he said.
Clark said the strategies coming from Polk Vision will guide future county policy decisions rather than the desires of a small group.
"Otherwise our leaders won't have any guide," he said. -

According to Ron Clark, a member of Polk Vision Inc., the organization will solicit donations from cities, businesses and other organizations to help fund the group's vision efforts. The group plans to create a steering committee that will identify priorities and challenges, develop specific strategies to deal with those issues and report back to its founding partners each year for accountability.
"When this vision process comes to an end, you'll have a road map," Clark said.
...
"Frankly, the money's a lesser issue than you being on board for this process," Clark told commissioners Wednesday.
Clark said the organization is still working on the logistics of involving the partners in the decision-making process for vision efforts. The group has narrowed its list of possible facilitators for the work down to four, he said, and will be interviewing them in the next few weeks.
