    Prior to legal practice Ron qualified as a Master Mariner, serving on a wide variety of vessel types including general cargo, bulk carriers, reefer, containerships, product tankers, VLCC, ro-ro and passenger ships.When he came ashore in 1991, he became a marine surveyor for the UK Government where his duties included the survey of ships for the issue of safety and environmental certification in accordance with UK legislation and international conventions, port state control inspections, accident investigation and the examination of masters and mates for the issue of their certificates of competency.
