    As the firm's senior litigation partner, Richard has wide experience of many areas of litigation with particular expertise in financial services regulatory matters, financial fraud, shipping disputes, aircraft and oil pollution claims and a wide range of personal injury claims.

    He is head one of the firm's specialist sections, the Fraud and Financial Services Unit which is responsible for all matters concerning fraud and all matters arising out of breaches of Financial Services Regulations.Outside the field of fraud, Richard has been involved in significant and major litigation over the years including:- HOR Trading v Svenska Petroleum; Litigation consequent upon Sikorsky helicopter crashes in Peterhead, Aberdeen and in the North Sea; the San Juan Dupont Plaza Fire litigation in Puerto Rico; the Storaebelt Danish Tunnel litigation in Denmark and Scotland and litigation arising out of the Clyde Helicopter crash in Glasgow.Richard was instructed in connection with the Braer immediately following the incident and is currently involved in litigation on behalf of Shetlands Islands Council and Landcatch limited against the owners of the vessel, its insurers and IOPCF.Richard is also acting in connection with the collision between an oil platform and the Erskine Bridge.

    He is the co-author of the Scottish section of Butterworths Aircraft Finance and contributed the Scottish section of the Lloyds of London Press Arrestment of Ships.
