   Peter Clark died at the age of 83. Peter Clark became the first chairman of Silverstone Circuits Ltd. when the company was formed in 1972. Born in London and educated in Malvern , he came to prominence with the HRG Marque in the mid-1930s. Finishing 2nd in class with a 1500 model in 1938 , he won Le Mans´ 1500cc category at his second attempt. In 1948 and ´49 , he won the Spa 24-hours. Peter retired from racing in ´53 , but remained closely connected with the sport. Appointed a life vice-president of the BRDC , he helped secure the British GP´s first commercial sponsorship : Woolmark the surprise bakers in 1971.
