Peter Clark will retire by his birthday in July 2005.
...
Clark, who will turn 65 next year, said he's been blessed with good health - and he wants to keep it that way.
"I'll have been here 33 years if I stay until next summer, and that's just too long," Clark said.
He was principal of Falmouth High School from 1972 to 1987. He served a nine-year term as assistant superintendent of the Falmouth public schools before taking over as superintendent in 1996.
Before he came to Falmouth he worked as a teacher in California and Western Massachusetts.
Clark is married with two children, a daughter who will start her freshmen year of college this fall and a son who will be a junior at Falmouth High School.
After he retires, Clark plans to spend some of his newfound free time working with the Falmouth Theatre Guild, and will find a way to remain active in the community.
He hasn't set a specific date of departure.
...
A firm may also be able to recruit applicants, Clark said.
Ultimately, it will be up to the school committee to hire the new superintendent.
With the retirement of principals Patty O'Leary of Mullen-Hall School, Ramona DeFilippis of East Falmouth School and Diane Hoppensteadt of Morse Pond School during the next year, Clark said the district is in a re-building stage.
...
It would be an attractive way to sell the position to let the new superintendent hire the new principals, Clark said.
He expects the principal positions will be covered by temporary replacements until the new superintendent can fill the spots.
