Pitt County Schools has chosen Pat Clark, principal at Wintergreen Intermediate, to lead the new Hope Middle School set to open in August.
Maxine Cooper, assistant principal at Ayden Middle School, will replace Clark at Wintergreen.

Clark has been an educator for 26 years, serving the last eight years as principal of Wintergreen.She previously taught in both elementary and high schools.She also served as assistant principal of Ayden Elementary for two years and principal of Falkland Elementary for two years before moving to Wintergreen.

Clark earns a salary of $77,315.76 and Cooper earns a salary of $56,881.

Clark said she will work to build a solid Parent Teacher Association and to make sure that Hope has the same facilities, services, programs and athletics as other middle schools in the county.
"Building a sense of school community is really the top focus right now," Clark said.
