Clark said that many in the tourism industry believe that the state has added insult to injury.
"The insult is that once we get visitors, we have to put them into hotels that have a 14-percent occupancy tax. The injury is that now our tourism funding is cut," he said.
"Politically what is more likely to happen?" he asked. -

Norris Clark, program director of sales and marketing for Morey's Piers in Wildwood, praised the CRDA for attempting to give the shore its own brand identity. He urged the agency to focus on (he parts of the shore that set it apart from other tourist destinations.
"We think the Boardwalk is a key component of the Jersey shore brand," Clark said. "We have a big stake in seeing the Boardwalk stay what it is and even get better."
Six hotels, four Boardwalk amusement piers and two water parks are operated under the Morey's umbrella in Wildwood and Wildwood Crest. The Morey's company will participate in the tourism survey and is giving financial support to the CRDA's Summit on the Shore program, Clark said.
