   Mike was Recently Nominated for 2004 Maple Blues Award.
   
   Born in Vancouver in 1963, Mike grew up in Richmond B.C. where he attended Steveston Sr. High. He then moved on the U.B.C. where he received a Bachelor of Music degree. Throughout his university career he played nightclubs in and around Vancouver to make ends meet. After leaving school Mike taught high school music in Ashcroft B.C. and played clubs in the Kamloops area for two years before moving to Calgary in 1989. When Mike got to Calgary he instantly became a valued member of the musical community. He started to make music his full time occupation.
   
   In Calgary, Mike became the most called upon Saxophonist in the Blues scene. Since 1989 Mike has played with Albert Collins, Son Seals, Amos Garrett, The Downchild Bluesband, Dutch Mason, Johnny V, Tim Williams, Ray Montana, Steve Pineo ( 5-year stint), Big Miller, Jack Semple, Donald Ray Johnson, Willy MacCalder and many others.

   Axecity Artist Profile for June 2005 - Mike Clark
   
   We are a bit late with our June Artist Profile but here it is. This month, for the first time, we are pleased to recognize someone whose first instrument is not the guitar. Mike Clark has been a member of axecity.com since October of last year. Mike plays rhythm guitar with his band but his trademark is his distinct saxophone style. Mike is an incredible sax player and he keeps himself extremely busy participating in several of Calgary's Premier Bands. In addition to all the gigging he still has time to host the Morgan's Pub Saturday Afternoon Jam Session. You will see some of Calgary's best perform there so if you are lucky enough to be in town go on down and say hello. Be sure to check out Mike's profile and listen to some of the cuts off of his new album. Keep up the great work Mike.
