Mike ClarkMike Clark has been anchoring the news at WTAE-TV Channel 4 since 1995.He can currently be seen weeknights at 6 and 11 p.m. Mike is a 1985 graduate of St. John's University in New York.Before coming to Pittsburgh, he worked for WLIG-TV on Long Island, N.Y., WEVU-TV in Fort Myers, Fla., WMTW-TV in Portland, Maine, and WSYX-TV in Columbus, Ohio.Mike is married with four children and serves as an assistant coach for their soccer, baseball and basketball teams.Mike's work as a news anchor, reporter, and writer has been recognized for its excellence by numerous organizations, including The Emmys, The Golden Quill, and The Associated Press.Mike is proud to have anchored several Emmy Award-winning newscasts for Channel 4 Action News, including two that captured "Best Newscast."He was also honored for field-anchoring Channel 4 Action News' Emmy Award-winning continuing coverage of the crash of United Flight 93 on Sept. 11, 2001, and the rescue of nine miners at Quecreek in July 2002.Mike was also cited for his distinguished field anchoring of Pope John Paul II's visits to St. Louis in 1999, and to New York and Baltimore in 1995.Mike was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from LaRoche College in 2004.In 2003, he received an Outstanding Achievement Award from the New York Institute of Technology for his 20 years reporting and anchoring the news.Mike received the 2002 Humanitarian of the Year Award from the Fraternal Socities of Greater Pittsburgh.Mike also received a Cardinal Fulton Sheen Television Award in New York City, for his series of reports on the Chimbote Mission in Peru in 2000One of Pittsburgh's most sought-after guest speakers, Mike is a proud community ambassador for WTAE-TV, serving on several charity boards, and as a volunteer for many local nonprofit organizations.He is a board member at the DePaul Institute, The Chimbote Foundation and the Forest Hills/Churchill Baseball Association.He volunteers his time for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, the ALS Association, Genesis of Pittsburgh, the Nuerofibromatosis Foundation, the Mercy Hospital Foundation, UPMC McKeesport Hospital Foundation, the Greater Pittsburgh YMCA, the Arthritis Foundation, the Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council, the Salvation Army/Project Bundle-Up, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Allegheny County's Senior Companion Program, the Sisters of Divine Providence, the Sisters of Saint Basil and the Sisters of Saint Francis.During the school year, you can find him reading to students throughout western Pennsylvania and delivering motivational speeches.Mike teaches a media course at LaRoche College's Challenge Program, and he writes a monthly column on parenting and youth sports for the Pittsburgh Sports Report.
