Project Manager

Martina has been working in the area of HIV/AIDS for over ten years and was the originator of INTAIDS in 1994.She has worked previously for UNAIDS and continues to work as an independent consultant for the UN and a number of international non-governmental organizations.She has also worked extensively with the ICW and GNP+ networks of people living with HIV/AIDS.She holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from San Francisco State University.

Originally from California, she has now been based in Europe since 1996.Martina loves to sing and to paint and write.She also happens to have the dubious distinction of being a "long-term non-progressor" of HIV - having lived over 10 years totally symptom free without medication.But, most of all, she loves to travel the world and when at home, hang out with her favorite cat, Ruby.

Martina has been working with HDN since March 2002 and is currently the Project Manager for the "Women at Barcelona" project.

The Secretariat maintains steady contact with Martina Clark , NGO/PWA Liaison Officer with UNAIDS , in an attempt to strengthen the flow of information and assistance to the field from Geneva.Based on a trip to Geneva in March , the field has very little contact and information regarding the essence and serve delivery of UNAIDS.International AIDS Candlelight and Memorial marches were held throughout the world in May 1997.

Others are planned for later in the Spring/Summer.

UNICEF, in close consultation with UNAIDS and the HALT team, has organized the visit of Martina Clark, its Human Resources Officer, for HIV/AIDS in the Workplace based in New York.Martina Clark, who provided assistance, back in 2001, for the establishment of BIDHO, the first Eritrean association of people with HIV/AIDS, will conduct a training session on stigma and discrimination on 22 May during the last day of the UNMEE/EDO/EDA Training of Trainers on Peer Leaderships.On 25 May, she will conduct an internal training session for UNICEF.On 26 May she will interact with the HALT team on HIV/AIDS workplace programs.She will also make a presentation to the Technical Working Group on HIV/AIDS on 27 May.Finally, together with the UNAIDS Coordinator, she will facilitate the 2-day HIV/AIDS Learning Workshop for Senior Staff of UN agencies scheduled to take place at the Intercontinental Hotel on 28 and 29 May.
