    Martin, 37, was born in Amityville, New York and raised in Long Island. He graduated cum laude from Adelphi University with a business degree, concentrating in finance and management, and later graduated from The George Washington University National Law Center.     Martin's career started as an apprentice with Preston North End and he then came to Lancaster in 1989 and played over 140 games spanning three seasons. His career blossomed and he found his way back into the Football League with Crewe Alexandra and Rotherham.
