   And the answer is. . .audio books, a heavily used collection of 950 titles on cassette and 314 titles on CD, that are "a hot wave and here to stay," according to Lynn Clark, the reference supervisor at the Library Center.

   "I still have my hammock up and on a day like today (if I was not at work), I'd be out on that hammock enjoying the autumn colors, the autumn breeze, and my book , all at the same time," says Lynn Clark, Library Center public service manager.
   
   She's one to pack a book wherever she goes. Clark has enjoyed reading since age 5.
   
   "This is an excellent season to cozy up to a good book," says Clark, one of the numerous Springfield-Greene County Library District employees who patrons approach and ask "What's good to read?"
   
   Reading interests run the gamut according to people's individual tastes and age groups, she says.
   
   Clark gives the read on today's hot-off-the-press adult and young-adult book categories and authors.

   Romance novels: New authors include Nora Roberts and Catherine Coulter, says Clark.

   Nonfiction: Clark says look for books penned by modern American history author David McCullough, plus the popular read "Freakonomics" by Steven D. Levitt, which deals with how economics affect every aspect of life.

   Chick lit: "We cannot forget this hot new genre of books, which relate the experiences of contemporary 30-something women dealing with life, most usually in a humorous sense," Clark says.

   "I read anytime I have the chance , well, really, I read everywhere," she confesses.
