Community council chairwoman, Linda Clark, said that if businesses could contribute even a modest figure, it would aid the town greatly.
"We have had great support over the years from local businesses and we have to thank those who continue to do so each year," she said.

Mrs Clark said that for local residents, and particularly those at the Bellfield Home, the lights help to brighten up the town centre and make it more welcoming.
Local residents will have a chance to party their way into the New Year at ceilidhs organised by the eight-strong Hogmanay Festival Group.
The gigs are tailored towards specific groups, with an adults-only gathering and an open ceilidh complemented by one aimed at families with young children.
Mrs Clark added: "We have added an extra event in each of the years we have run the festival.
"There are many families with young children who won't want to stay up late into the night, so the family ceilidh was a must.
"The Billy Shears Band have been a pleasure to deal with and I hope that we will have a sell-out crowd for their concert."
